Both of these books are very dear to me. The first one was my great grandads and in the front of the cover it has a little label saying it was rewarded to J Mabley for regularity of attendance and an encouragement to perserverance. 1893
The second book I bought for a silly amount of money in an amazing book shop in Petersfield, Hampshire. I couldn't resist. The illustrations are out of this world. Love it!
